STYLE (SPRING & SUMMER) - Luxe Looks For Less (Classic Sport Casual)

Winter  has run its course, and Spring and Summer demand that you peel off those layers, before you burst into flames, in favor of shorts, tees, and flip-flops!

But how do you dress cool enough to vent all your trouble spots without resorting to ether a sleeveless tee or a "wife-beater" (tank top), and the same cargo shorts you wore to the first Warped tour?
Short on fly gear? Where can you get some good stuff without killing your wallet, or having to go a billion different places?

I GOT YOU.

THE SPORTSMAN
This look is for those who want to look their best, even whether when outside in the sun and heat, or in the sudden cool of the evening.
Really, this is a simple Spring look but can be "Summerized" (pun intended) by ditching the jacket, and substituting the long-legged chinos for a pair of non-cargo shorts that are made in the same slim chino-like fashion.
Be ready to go from a neighborhood barbecue, to a round of golf, to an evening date in or out, looking crisp, clean, and as cool as a fan!

Here's a breakdown of the following Spring/Summer Classic Sport Casual look, that can have you looking like a man of leisure, on or off-duty, for barely $200:
  • "Harrington" Blouson/Jacket by Polo: Ralph Lauren (found at Burlington Coat Factory) - $22
  • Polo by Polo: Ralph Lauren (found at local Thrift Store) - $6
  • Chinos by Goodfellow (found at Target) - $25
  • Shoes (White #63 Slip-Ons, not pictured) by Vans (found at Journeys Shoes) - $62
  • Watch by George (found at Walmart) - $15
  • Jewelry by MJ Darling (The Pharaoh, and The STARSHIP rings, found HERE) - $100 total
  • Hair by Angel at B&B's Above & Beyond (located near UAB in B'ham, AL) - $15-20
SUMMER PRO STYLE TIP:
Choose lighter versions of a color in lieu of the darker versions in the sunny seasons, so that the sun doesn't "sun-beat" and fade your clothing's colors.

Pick a lighter Navy in the sunny seasons and a darker navy in the colder ones; the same with khakis, black and grays.

Lighter colors and shades will make your clothing a bit breezier by reflecting the sunlight instead of absorbing it, like darker colors would.

So if you wear darker colors, you may only want to do so either when you know you'll mostly be inside away from the heat, or in the evening when the sun won't bake you like a potato wrapped in tin foil!

And remember, these garments are mostly neutral colors, and are very versatile, and can be worn with most anything else in your closet, as long as the fit is consistent, meaning no baggy shirts with fitted pants, ans vice versa-

..just in case you were wondering if you'd have to buy a complete outfit every time you want to change your look; no, you don't!

Classic wear means that a good quality garment will last for years, even decades, so rest assured that neutral colors and a timeless style/cut will go a long way for your precious dollar!

MJ Darling - OPX (Our Hero; TRON VG Music Video Edit)

LYRICS:
"Somewhere on Red Mountain
lives a man that overstands
and comprehends 11 dimensions.
This mild-mannered vicar who's slicker than most,
he was BOUGHT WITH BLOOD;
SENT down to WAKE THE COMATOSE.

Endowed with Power and purpose
to start producing spiritual armor,
needed to PROTECT THE SACRED HEART.
To search, contain and disarm the work of Dark Arts;
defend the Corpus Christi;
GUARD THE COMING QUEEN'S BODY PARTS!

THERE HE GOES NOW, rippin' down the avenue;
Iron Cross ablaze with a Grace so AMAZIN'!
He says he 'do what he gotta do',
meanwhile the stage is being SET
and they're askin' 'IS HE CRAZY?'

Raised with a Key-
..the ONE KING, holder of seven stars,
5th dimension to receive ya'-
..given authority to WATCH THE FLOCK HERE;
'the Hunter in the Wood'
but who's ever gonna believe ya'?!?!

They can BELIEVE THIS:
Whatever "powers-that-be" is gonna chip-away
 until they're a MONOPOLY.
OPX REBELS against the policy and holds it down
long enough so I can maybe divvy out a spot for ME (offers Coverage)!

On this oddessy, we're following the Chi-Rho (Christ/Messhiach)
through those that sacrificed
to those chasing dinero (money/riches).
May we sleep when our heads touch the pillow
due to the HUNTER OF PEACE-
..OPX, OUR HERO!

This ain' no Joe G.I., Magnum P.I.-
..this ain't a gangsta movie by Ritchie Guy-
..THIS AIN'T FICTION homie, ie. its NO LIE-
SPITTING FIRE to 85 (the 85%) to enrich the EYE (widen perceptions)!
In the midst of FIVE (5 Pts South, B'ham, AL), college kids quick to DIE-
..selling their souls to WHATEVER mystifies (ie. occultism, drugs, club-life, etc.).
I'M COMPELLED to say 'the quest is mine
'cause THE PAIN RUNS TOO DEEP TO ANESTHETIZE!"
-Omnipax/MJ Darling

STYLE (FALL & WINTER) - Luxe Looks For Less (Rugged Outdoor Casual)

Winter is coming (if its not here already), and after a long stretch of shorts, tees, and flip-flops, its finally time to don your fly sweaters, chinos, and overcoats!

But with so many things to choose from, how do you layer them right, and keep from looking tacky, especially when you're going from blue-collar worker-to-leisurely outdoorsman, or meeting up with friends for that bonfire at the camp site this weekend without resorting to the old forest camo, plaid lumberjack button-down, expendable jeans, and running shoes or even worse, the very same workboots you've already been wearing all week?
We get it; you work hard, and a blue-collar worker's got to stay functional regardless of their work shift, but the only other clothes you have just don't quite fit a more casual occasion.

Short on gear that's both functional and a bit sexy? Where can you get some good stuff without killing your wallet, or having to go a billion different places?

WE GOT YOU.

THE OUTDOORSMAN
I put together this casual look for the rugged and handy type, who deserves to look as good as he works hard!
Our model, Matt Triola, is a blue-collar outdoors/working man with a great mind and sense of humor, who like most, insists that his new wardrobe style must be as authentic to his default style without making him feel awkward.

I think we did quite nicely!

Here's a breakdown of the following Fall/Winter Outdoor Casual look, that can have you looking both functional and stylish, for well under $200:
  • Hunting Jacket by Wantdo (found at Bargain Hunt) - $30
  • Vest by Goodfellow (found at Target) - $22
  • Denim Button-Down by Goodfellow (found at Target) - $22
  • Short-Sleeved Henley by Goodfellow (found at Target) - $12
  • Scarf by G (found at a local Asian trade store) - $10
  • Chinos by Goodfellow (found at Target) - $25
  • Watch by Armitron (found at Walmart) - $60
  • Hair by Sportcut (B'ham, AL) - $15-20
  • Skullcap by Unknown (Generic, found at local accessory shop) - $2
  • Shoes (brown leather casual sneakers, not pictured) by Levis (found at K&G Fashions) - $24
    And remember, these garments are mostly neutral colors, and are very versatile, so they can be worn with most anything else in your closet, as long as the fit is consistent, meaning no baggy shirts with fitted pants, and vice versa-
    ..just in case you were wondering if you'd have to buy a complete outfit every time you want to change your look; no you don't!

    Go for classic-styled garments (white, gray and blue shirts, navy, grey, khaki chinos, well-fitted jackets, etc.).

    Classic wear means that a good quality garment will last for years, even decades, so rest assured that classic styles in neutral colors and quality will go a long way for your precious dollar!

    ENTERTAINMENT - Benny Hill; British Comic Legend And Treasure

    I used to sneak and watch Benny Hill when I was a wee lad, back in the early 1980's.

    When I think back on it, maybe my folks actually let me, before the national and global media rating system kicked in!

    Every night, after the news, and the Muppet Show (don't ask me why any network would chose that lineup order), this brilliant and talented man would introduce me to the world of fast-paced, bawdy, but keenly smart humor, just as I was getting used to watching anything other than cartoons.

    Racy, yes, but never vulgar, and turns out that the real man had a heart of gold.
